General Track: Inter-nationalization of CMP

Education and Research Session 2022

The 2022 ENCATC Annual Congress will focus Internationalization in cultural education, research, policy, and practices: theoretical, strategic and management perspectives”. Under this umbrella theme, the general track of the 2022 Education and Research Session (E&RS) invites scholars, educators, policy makers, cultural managers and artists to participate with academic studies and teaching demonstrations on “Internationalization of cultural policy and management.”

In a globalized world, it is crucial for the scientific and education community, policy makers, cultural managers and artists, to benefit from the cooperation with other countries, within Europe and beyond. To gain in competitiveness, resilience, to enable exchanges and fair cooperation, there is a need for new opportunities for people in the realm of culture and creativity to internationalize their career, to cooperate in the development and design of cultural policy and management curricula, to find international audiences for their projects and scientific publications, as well as to have more opportunities to work closely with network projects or existing platforms facilitating the international cultural exchange and policy.

Furthermore, in the context of COVID-19 (post-)pandemic, and due to the general need for physical distancing, quarantines and travel restrictions, new mechanisms, mediation, practices and opportunities enabling academics, researchers and cultural practitioners to continue developing international co-operation projects are more relevant than ever before.

The use of digital/online means for international cultural co-operation can be particularly helpful to create and maintain communities of thinking and practice, and therefore it is pertinent to understand how these communities are transferred to the digital world.

According to the above, contributions – in the form of abstract or teaching demonstration – which deal with the following topics, but not limited to, are welcome within this track:

  • Main issues/challenges in international co-operation in the fields of cultural management and policy and possible ways to mitigate or solve them.
  • Creation and management of digital communities – including aspects such as the welcome and inclusion of new members, trust-building mechanisms, technologies as enablers or inhibitors of engagement, etc.
  • Cultural and creative institutions as multipliers for international co-operation.
  • Policy actions, perspectives and examples in relation to favoring or preventing international cooperation
  • Citizens and stakeholders’ role in internationalization processes
  • Artists and creative workers and their role in internationalization promotion
