Track related to the Research Interest Cluster (RIC) “Arts Management in a Latin-American perspective

An obvious statement is the following: The contexts in which art and culture organizations are born, grow, and develop affect their forms of management (Hernández-Acosta,2013). However, although it is a statement corresponding to common sense, it is necessary to illustrate this difference. Evidence of this difference will provide elements to optimize the management processes carried out by these art and culture organizations (Hernandez-Acosta, 2014). In An International context, these types of distinctions are observed in some of the objectives and impacts of organizations and cultural policies corresponding to the sector (Ruiz, 2017). Cultural Management has been a topic led by countries with developed economies, in which the economic dimension has been one of its most important dimensions (Boix Domemnech, 2018). However, in the Latin American context, the creation of social value predominates as one of its basic determinants, even surpassing the importance of the economic value that these organizations can generate (Ruiz-Gutierrez, 2014; Molina, A., 2014).

This track seeks to welcome proposals that respond to the following perspectives:

  • What are the types and forms of value creation generated by the management processes of art and culture organizations within the Latin American context?
  • To what extent do cultural policies in Latin America promote the generation of social impacts in the management of art and culture organizations?
  • What are significant cases of value creation processes, based on artistic and cultural dimensions, in specific communities in Latin America?
  • To what extent does cultural heritage management contribute to strengthening the identity of a community in Latin America?
  • How is Latin American cultural management working in the broader international, globalized context?
  • How are Latin American cultural policies favoring or hindering internationalization of artists and cultural institutions while maintaining the creation of social values at a local level?
  • What are best practices of interaction of the local and international dimension of cultural policy and management?
  • What new practices, creative, and artistic products and services are consequences from pandemic period?
  • What are distinctive aspects in cultural management training programs in Latin America?
