Jean Bruijnzeels

Account Manager International Institutes Economic Affairs and Culture, City of Maastricht

Jean Bruinzeels is an art historian and archivist and started to work for the municipality of Maastricht in 1982. After having worked in the municipal archives, the municipal library and as a facility manager, since 2011 he is a liaison-officer between the municipality of Maastricht and international institutes and institutions in the Maastricht region, Netherlands. Representation, hospitality and international networking are all part of the job. In 2014 he was one of the initiators and organisers of the debate between the candidates for the presidency of the European Commission in the Theater aan het Vrijthof in Maastricht, worldwide live broadcasted by Euronews. He was also part of the steering committee responsible for The Maastricht Debate 2019 on April 29 between the 'Spitzenkandidaten' for the position of president of the European Commission.

Besides this function, he is involved in a number of other projects:

  •  2012/present  Mentor in the international MBA-mentorship program of MSM (Maastricht School of Management)
  • 2018/present  Project manager 75 Years Liberation Maastricht
  • 2018/present  Member of the stakeholder panel of the Co-VAL research project (Understanding value co-creation in public services for transforming European public transformations)
