2020 ENCATC Education and Research Session

The 2020 Digital Education and Research Session was held from 9-10 November 2020 during the 2020 ENCATC Digital Congress on Cultural Management and Policy (3-11 November). 

The Education and Research Session was organised in 9 sessions and for the first time included a special language session in Spanish organised with the help of ENCATC members in Latin America.  As a result, more than 30 papers were presented from the Austria, Azerbaijan,  Belgium, Chile,  Cyprus, Czech Republic, France, Ireland, Italy, Mexico, Norway, Poland, Serbia,  Spain, South Africa, Taiwan Province of China, Turkey, and the United States. 

VIDEO RECORDINGS

The ENCATC Congress platform, which remains open for 6 months after the Congress ended, includes video recordings of the 2020 Education and Research Session. Registered participants may access this online space at any time. ENCATC is also accepting new registrations for people who were not able to register and attend for the live sessions.

PROCEEDINGS

ENCATC has published the 2020 Congress Proceedings, available for download here. The Congress Proceedings are an outcome of the Annual Education and Research Session to publish a selection of papers from presenters who are from the international research and education community. The 2020 publications includes 14 papers on cultural management and policy topics related to the 2020 Congress theme from researchers and educators in Cyprus, the Czech Republic, France, Ireland, Italy, Mexico, Serbia, Spain, Taiwan Province of China, Turkey, and the United States.

OPEN CALL

ENCATC held an open call for the 2020 Education and Research Session to welcome research abstracts, teaching demonstration proposals, panel proposals for a special session in Spanish, and submissions for a special PhD candidate session. The extended deadline for submissions ended on 5 August 2020.

PUBLICATION OPPORTUNITIES

After the Congress, authors and presenters of the Research Session are invited to submit their work in ENCATC’s scientific publication, the European Journal of Cultural Management and Policy. Launched in October 2011, the Journal’s objective is to stimulate the debate on topics of cultural management and cultural policy among scholars, educators, policy makers and cultural managers. The Journal is based on a multidisciplinary perspective and aims at connecting theory and practice in the realm of the cultural sector.

Presenters in the Education Session are invited to submit their papers to the /encatcSCHOLAR, a unique tool for education and lifelong learning on arts and cultural management and policy. Composed of articles, exclusive interviews, case studies, conference reports and more, / encatcSCHOLAR was born to satisfy the growing demand for the latest teaching material from academics, researchers, cultural operators and students in over 40 countries around the world.

BACKGROUND

The 2020 ENCATC Education and Research Session will build on the success of previous edition organised in Dijon (2019), Brussels (2010), Helsinki (2011), London (2012), Antwerp (2013), Brno (2014), Lecce (2015), Valencia (2016), Brussels (2017), Bucharest (2018), and Dijon (2019). At date, more than 375 researchers and educators from around the world have presented their work.
