2020 ENCATC Policy Debate

Online

How to give an EULAC dimension to EU policies in the cultural, scientific and social domains?

There will be a communication soon on this event moving online and no longer held in person due to the Covid-19 crisis.

Culture has always been at the centre of the relations between Europe and Latin America and the Caribbean due to the shared history and the important influence of European culture in Latin America and the Caribbean.

However, at the institutional and political level, the dialogues and joint EU-CELAC actions in the field of culture have been much less developed than the scientific and social institutionalized dialogues. Moreover, in terms of budget, the funding allocated to external cultural relations has also been very limited.

With the idea to offer a space for discussion on how to design a better framework for enhancing collaboration between the EU and CELAC cultural and scientific institutions, the 2020 ENCATC debate will focus on “How to give an EULAC dimension to EU policies in the cultural, scientific and social domains?”

Participants will access:

  • updated knowledge on the current challenges of cultural relations between the European Union and Latin America and Caribbean;
  • recommendations for enhancing cooperation between cultural and scientific institutions/organisations from the European Union and Latin America and Caribbean.

More details to come and registration to open in 2020!
