Annika Hampel

Annika Hampel is an expert in the areas of cultural and higher education policy as well as international affairs and relations, with a particular interest in global collaborations and diversity as well as the role of culture and science for sustainable development and social transformation.  

In 2014, she completed her doctorate on ‘Fair Cooperation. A New Paradigm for Cultural Diplomacy and Arts Management’ with distinction at the Department of Cultural Policy at the University of Hildesheim/UNESCO chair ‘Cultural Policy for the Arts in Development’. In 2015, her doctoral thesis was awarded the ifa Research Award on Foreign Cultural Policy by the Stuttgart Institut für Auslandsbeziehungen and the ENCATC Research Award on Cultural Policy and Cultural Management by the European Network of Cultural Administration Training Centres in Brussels. 

To date, Annika Hampel has received four scholarships from the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) for research visits to Ghana (twice), India, and South Korea. She is a member among others of Centre for African Studies – Research Network Africa at the University of Basel, Kulturwissenschaftliche Gesellschaft e.V. (KWG), Kulturpolitische Gesellschaft e.V., Academic Council on Culture and Foreign Policy/ Institut für Auslandsbeziehungen (ifa), Association for African Studies in Germany, Brokering Intercultural Exchange Network. In 2014, she organized the International Conference on Cultural Policy Research (ICCPR 2014) in Hildesheim and Berlin.
