Dr. David Ocón has close to 20 years of experience in the culture and education sectors. Trained in the United Kingdom, Spain, and France, he has led the cultural departments of organisations such as the Asia-Europe Foundation (ASEF, Singapore), the European Network on Cultural Management and Policy (ENCATC, Belgium), and Cervantes Institute-Spanish Cultural Centre (Beijing, China).
David is based in Singapore where he is an Assistant Professor (Practice) at Singapore Management University’s School of Social Sciences. He teaches and researches on Cultural Diplomacy in Asia, Arts Management, and Urban Cultural Anthropology and Heritage.
As an academic, he has previously lectured at City University of Hong Kong, James Cook University, and the School of Technology for the Arts in Singapore, and for more than a decade, he has been a visiting faculty member at University of Barcelona’s postgraduate programme in International Cultural Cooperation and Management.
David has led courses and seminars at a number of Asian and European institutions and is an evaluator of arts management programmes, a reviewer for peer-reviewed publications, and he regularly provides strategic advice for cultural organisations worldwide.
