6th ENCATC International Study Tour to the Emirates

Renata Papsch is a cultural manager from Austria who has initiated and managed arts spaces and cultural projects in many countries, especially across the Middle East and around the Mediterranean. Since 2013, she is based in Dubai, UAE and responsible for Art Jameel International, an organization dedicated to foster and promote Contemporary Art and Creative Entrepreneurship across the MENAT region. Before moving to the UAE, she coordinated a Creative Industries Project for EUNIC and managed for several months Darat Al Funun in Amman, Jordan. In Egypt, she worked with the Anna Lindh Foundation and coordinated the first Anna Lindh Forum in Barcelona, Spain and two festivals “Fahr Al Bahr” in Alexandria. In Turkey, she was the director of DEPO, a newly established cultural centre in Istanbul and worked on a residency program with SantralIstanbul. Her experience includes not only the initiation and management of spaces and programmes but also the distribution of grants (e.g. for the Young Arab Theatre Fund) and administration (e.g. for IETM, an international network for the contemporary performing arts). Since many years, she has also been working as consultant for cultural non-for-profit organizations, e.g. in strategic planning, organizational development, financial management and international cooperation.
