8th ENCATC Policy Debate

Every year ENCATC engages in a policy debate with the aim of identifying new business models, innovative funding schemes and investments practices in the arts and cultural sector. The 8th Annual ENCATC Policy Debate "Issues and trends in cultural policy at an international level" will take place on 2 October in Antwerp, Belgium.

This ENCATC Policy Debate, in collaboration with the Foundation for Cultural Management of the University of Antwerp, invites ENCATC members, academics, researchers, cultural operators, policy makers, economics experts and students are invited to explore issues and trends in cultural policy at an international level.

Following an introduction from ENCATC President, Annick Schramme, the policy debate will begin with a lecture from speaker Sarah Gardner, founding director of IFACCA, the international network of national arts funding agencies. Next the international debate panel will respond and bring their different perspectives on issues and trends in cultural policy:  Avril Joffe (Lecturer, University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, South Africa, Arts Council South-Africa), Richard Maloney (Professor Cultural Policy and Cultural Management, New York University), Luc Delrue (Secretary-General Flanders Department of Culture, Youth, Media), and Martine Reicherts (t.b.c. - Director-General European Commission for Culture). The policy debate will close with the conclusions from Caroline Bastiaens, vice mayor of culture, economy, urban maintenance, and patrimony. 

To foster networking and continue the discussions participants are invited for an after drink.
