ENCATC Congress 2022 #4: Professional skills and Training curricula design. Learnings from the CHARTER project and the digital strategy of the AMVB museum

Brussels

On 19 October 2022, during its annual Congress, ENCATC organized a series of Members Talks in combination with Study Visits in key cultural locations in Brussels. This talk took place in relation with the visit of the Archive and Museum of Flemish Life in Brussels (AMVB).

The Congress' #4 Study Visit and related Members' Talk on the CHARTER project happened at the Archive and Museum of Flemish Life in Brussels (AMVB). The Members Talk 4 proposed a framework to discuss the adaptation of the training offer to the current and future demands of profiles, competences and professional skills in the field of cultural and heritage management. The framework has been created by the CHARTER project, focused on cultural heritage, but it could be used as well in other cultural fields.

This Members Talk had several steps. We started with a site visit at the Archive and Museum of Flemish Life in Brussels, where we learned about its structure, team, projects and activities. Afterward, we started the workshop with an introduction and the presentation of the results of an ongoing study on job vacancies to reflect on the new demands for professional profiles. In the second part of the workshop participants used the CHARTER tools to analyse team competences. Finally, we focused on how training programs could adapt to the challenges previously presented.
