The ENCATC Members Talk on 19 March 2021 from 14:30-15:30 (CET) was the occasion for an exciting introduction to a new ENCATC initiative to launch in 2021: Research Interest Clusters, RICs!  ENCATC Vice-President, Ana Gaio presented this new opportunity, its functioning and how it aims to engage the ENCATC membership community.  Joining this conversation, ENCATC also invited members from AAAE and TACPS to attend.

A Research Interest Cluster provides a professional and social network in which individuals with a shared and specialised research, teaching and/or professional interest can connect and move their knowledge interest forward and share it with the relevant wider community.  A RIC can also be an ‘incubator’ for collaborative research activity, for example, leading to a bid for a project, or a publication. The life-cycle of a research network is one year but this is renewable depending on work in-progress.

The main goal of ENCATC’s RICs is to enable members with an interest in a specific research problematic or topic within the of arts and cultural management and policy field to work together to further research or deepen understanding of that topic.  ENCATC’s ambition is, ultimately, to stimulate and support research and knowledge transfer in the field so that it gradually becomes established and recognised as an area of research in its own right.
