2024 ENCATC International Study Tour

In the frame of the 2024 ENCATC Congress, on 21-22 September 2024, participants have the opportunity to join the 11th edition of the Study Tour and embark on an exploratory voyage to rediscover the essence of Salentine Greece, embracing its rich historical heritage while embracing its contemporary allure.

Officially known as the Union of the Towns of Grecìa Salentina, this union of 11 towns was conceived to promote the knowledge of Griko (a variant of Greek language) and preserve its culture, organising research at the university, teaching the language at schools and publishing books and poetry in this endangered dialect.

Participants will have the chance to explore significant cultural sites in Calimera, Castrignano de' Greci, Corigliano d'Otranto, and Cutrofiano. They will also learn the fundamentals of Griko and savor traditional local cuisine.
