This was the second time an ENCATC Cultural Happy Hour was organised at Espronceda Art and Culture Center in Barcelona. Following the 24th ENCATC Annual Conference in Valencia (5-7 October 2016), ENCATC organised an international study tour to Barcelona (10-11 October 2016).
The Cultural Happy Hour was a festive occasion to welcome all the arrivals in Barcelona coming to attend the study tour. This was also the first time that American members from the Association of Arts Administration Educators (AAAE) attended an ENCATC Cultural Happy Hour.
Espronceda Art and Culture Center is a new innovative and contemporary art home, providing a platform and multi-disciplinary environment for artists, curators, and everybody else who believes in the importance of art, culture and education for more creativity and a better world. The evening programme included a visit to the exhibition Liquid Gender by German artist Fabian Vogler. It also featured the sound installation Emotional Decrypter by Francesco Giannico. The exhibition was curated by Caterina Tomeo, Professor of Rome-Rufa University of Fine Arts.
Cultural Happy Hour guests were welcomed by ENCATC Secretary General, GiannaLia Cogliandro Beyens and Holger Sprengel, Co-Founder/Managing Director of Espronceda. Next, Manuel Aramendia Zuazu, Associate Dean of the Fine Arts Faculty, University of Barcelona gave an introduction followed by a talk with the artist Fabian Vogler.
Guests were also invited to learn more about two European artists doing a residency at Espronceda, the Belgian painter, Emmanuel Beyens and the Italian artist Savina Tarsitano.
