For this Global Conversation with AAAE the focus was on "A compass of challenges. How arts and culture is rebuilding communities" to have a panel of European and American experts. While there are many challenges facing the US and European society, this panel discussion started with four cardinal points of racism, poverty, climate change, and the complexities of a divided society that includes those who distrust or outright reject art, education and ideas or information outside of their bubble.

This was moderated, and focused on four cardinal points that represent four of society’s primary challenges. After a brief introduction wa given which aimed at igniting the discussion, the panelists shared their positions on the problems and examples offering replicable solutions.

The Four Challenges:
1. Racism – rejection of the ’other’.
2. Poverty – acceptance of inequality as a principle by the wealthy.
3. Climate Change – our imperiled future.
4. Fractured society,- distrust/rejection of art, culture, education and ideas or information outside one’s bubble.
