The UNESCO World Conference on Cultural Policies and Sustainable Development - MONDIACULT 2022, was hosted this year from 28 to 30 September 2022 by the Government of Mexico. What can be learned at this time from the debates and the historic adoption of a Declaration for Culture, that sprang from the gathering as a final consensus statement and enshrined culture in the category of global public goods? What are the prospects opened by the meeting and its outcomes? What do they tell us about the state of the cultural sector and the challenges and opportunities awaiting it ahead?
