Salon of Espronceda #1

For the first episode of the SALON OF ESPRONCEDA, ENCATC member and artist, Savina Tarsitano invited Alexandra Christev and Vladimir de Vaumas, founders of Artists In Residence Television, the first audiovisual platform dedicated to art residencies worldwide.

While presenting their web platform, they discussed the paradigm shift in art residencies by addressing the changes operating in residency programs and the role they play in their communities and the society in general.

By emphasizing the necessity of art residencies in the development of artistic careers, they also presented the results of their investigation in Latin America, where they interviewed professionals and artists from more than 300 residency programs between 2017 and 2020.

Finally, they spoke about the next mission of Artists In Residence TV in Africa and the Middle-East.

The Espronceda salon project arises from the need to connect people in the fields of art, culture, literarture education, science, politics, in a difficult period of movement, of moving. The pandemic and Covid has pushed us to a profound reflection on how to be together even if distant, on how to continue to dialogue together even if distant. Hence the idea of creating the Espronceda salon, a corner dedicated each time to a Special Guest, to dialogue together on art, culture, politics, economy, and more, always in connection with art. 

The show is open to young people, and experts with years of experience to also compare the different generations, exploring together different themes from different points of view. The project will start at the beginning of April for all the 2021, in organizing an event each month, with a different topic and special guest, including also some members of ENCATC.

The main objective is also to connect local community with the International community with a vision of the best contemporary art practice in the world across cultures and countries. The Salon will also be dedicated to the presentation of books, music, a literary moment that combines with the beauty of the visual arts. In this way, we try to connect people and countries, in dealing on different topic, and maybe creating also new collaborations or networking.

The different Special Guests will be artists, curators, culture manager, writers, poets, from different countries, different age.

The project will be organized with a hybrid form, from virtual and onsite in Barcelona at Espronceda.
