18th ENCATC Cultural Happy Hour visits contemporary center in a transformed space

For the 18th Cultural Happy Hour and the second organised in 2015, 21 invited guests were welcomed to a special after hours visit of the WIELS Contemporary Art Centre, one of the rare examples of modernist industrial architecture in Brussels. Housed in a former beer brewery originally designed in the 1931 and now an historically classified building, WIELS is one of the leading institutions for contemporary art in Belgium, presenting temporary exhibitions by national and international artists, both emerging and more established, and housing nine residencies for young artists and an active education program. On this evening, two guides took Cultural Happy Hour guests through Wiels'current exhibition Body Talk addressing issues of feminism, sexuality and the body, as they play themselves out in the work of a generation of women artists from Africa active since the early 1990s.
