French pianist, Emmanuelle Stéphan, to perform at the ENCATC Congress!
ENCATC is honoured to announce on 19 October, distinguished French pianist Emmanuelle Stéphan will perform at the 2021 ENCATC Fellowship Award Ceremony to be held during the 2021 ENCATC Digital Congress "Artists in the spotlight! In search of new agendas for education and research in the cultural management and policy field" (19-22 October).
Emmanuelle Stéphan will join us for the ENCATC Digital Congress in her role of artist ambassador of UNESCO. As an NGO in official partnership with UNESCO, ENCATC is proud to join forces to offer her a platform to present her musical talent for our international Congress audience. Moreover, her presence is further commitment from ENCATC as it seeks to help cultural professionals internationalise their careers.
Born in Mulhouse (Alsace), first trained on the Russian school by an heir to Heinrich Neuhaus, Professor Yuri Klempert, Emmanuelle Stéphan chose to continue her studies in the United States at the Juilliard School (New York), and in France at the Schola Cantorum (Paris) where she entered in 2016. She is a laureate of several international competitions including a 2nd prize in New York in 2017, rewarded with a concert in the mythical Carnegie Hall. In the same year, she made her debut recording for the label Warner Classics/Erato, of Francis Poulenc’s music alongside his only student, the great pianist Gabriel Tacchino. Already invited to various recognized festivals, the young performer sails with much ease in a diverse repertoire, from baroque to romantic as well as impressionist music.
Artists are at the core of the cultural and creative sectors (CSS). There is no question the COVID-19 crisis has severely impacted the CCS throughout the different waves Europe and the world have experienced to date. The whole crisis has brought (back) to the fore serious challenges for the CCS, some of which are new, but most of which have been only emphasized by the current crisis. Among the latter, the debates about the role and status of the artist are all but new and demand a renewed look in front of the current scenario(s).
This is why ENCATC is dedicating its 2021 Digital Congress to the theme "Artists in the spotlight! In search of new agendas for education and research in the cultural management and policy field".
